Good Customer Service And CD Rates
4 stars - Alskar - Sunday, March 24, 2013 - 6:07 PM

Even though I don't live in Colorado any longer, I was able to join Denver Community CU based on my father's membership there.

The online membership process was pretty straightforward and smooth, though there was a small issue getting my scanned ID's uploaded properly to Denver CCU. Once I was a member, it took several phone calls to get the proper login credentials for online access.

I transferred some money from a Traditional Rollover IRA and a Roth IRA to IRA 5 year CD's at Denver CCU.  The transfer process went smoothly.

CD's at Denver CCU have several features that were appealing to me:
  • Jumbo CD rates start at $50K instead of the more typical $100K
  • Additional money can be added to CD with terms longer than 36 months in amounts as low as $25
  • Early withdrawal penalty is only 180 days instead of the more typical 365 days for 5 year CD
Denver CCU's IT infrastructure is a bit outdated, but functional.  Their website is pretty primitive, but functional.  I recommend Denver Community CU to those that can qualify for membership.

I gave Denver CCU only 4 out of 5 start due to their outdated IT infrastructure.  The customer service has been 5 star!
