As of September 17th 2010, Community & Southern Bank, Carrollton, Georgia, acquired the banking operations, including all the deposits, of three Georgia-based institutions. The Bank of Ellijay, Ellijay, First Commerce Community Bank, Douglasville, and The Peoples Bank, Winder, were closed by the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance, and the FDIC was named receiver for each institution. The failed institutions were not affiliated with one another. To protect depositors, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) entered into a purchase and assumption agreement with Community & Southern Bank.
