Closed Savings Account Because Of FED REG D - Excessive Action
1 stars - NJARMY - Monday, December 27, 2010 - 2:16 AM

According to Wachovia, I am in violation of Federal Regulation D.  Their reaction to this was to close my Savings Account - which I had with them for over 30 years.  This is the account my income is direct-deposited into.  They apologize but will not reopen the account, however, I am free to open a new account with them.  Many, many other institutions gently remind you that you reached your limit for the month and refuse additional transactions.  Those institutions leave your account alone.  Not Wachovia.  So far, through "secure email" they will not reopen the account.  To add insult to injury, I am deployed and now I must handle this while in Iraq - otherwise my pay will remain in limbo.  If they think I will remain a loyal customer, they thought wrong.  Be aware of any bank that has the option to notify its customers, but instead chooses a harsher method.

Merger With Wells Fargo
2 stars - gway - Saturday, January 22, 2011 - 5:12 PM

I had a checking account and 2 savings account with Wachovia but when they merged with Wells Fargo they were charging me money for maintaining the account, something I didn't have to pay for with Wachovia. They were automatically withdrawing money from my checking to pay for the maintainance fee. I had to cancel my saving accounts with Wells Fargo. Besides they don't have ATMs at my new place.

1 stars - copperferrett - Thursday, February 24, 2011 - 5:53 AM

I was doing business with wachovia when it was First union.Always had a good business relation ship with W (Wachovia) about 3 years ago they started down hill, there in a free fall now with customer service.Mind you my wife and i have most of our saveings, safe deposit box, home eq,loan, wife direct deposit from work, and her savings account.Below is just the highlights of how W lost my business
had free safe deposit box free of charge, started charging me with no notice, then took it out of my daughters account!great family argument when she got that statement!Buy the way the safe deposit box is soon to be "was"at the branch at jasper street, clearwater, florida,a drab and out dated place that i know that the box safe is 95% empty!!!!
had $100k home eq loan that dropped to $43,257.18 exactly what i owed at the time
GREAT BANK FRIEND HA!
THE GRAND FINALLY WAS YESTERDAY At the Ulmerton and 49st branch said nsf funds in checking account,so they froze my account, get this I had a check from LKQ Parts yard where my towing company sell cars.this check is made out to me personally, and computer Generated funds with a zero percent chance of bouncing!!! I have cashed over 1000 checks, yes one thousand checks from them thru wachovia in the last 4 years!!!! they would not cash the check even though i told them that i was handing the cash right back to them to square the NSF problem!I'M not lying!had to go to BANK OF AMERICA to cash the check, went back to W to deposit the cash @ the ATM but it was out of order!I gave up.
I Have a Friend Steve Foley with Met Life Securities that has wanted my business for some time.
as of 02/24/2011 i am pulling the following from wachovia:
$100 k annuity
APPOX $370k from assorted 401k
wife's personal savings $25k
wife's automatic pay deposit from BMC
closing both business and personal account
you can have that safe deposit box back by the way,ps.be careful @ the jasper location, entry door& ATM  in the back out of sight in bad area I happen to know that customers have been robbed there!
O but good news wacovia!even though you will no longer electric debot my home eq lone payment,i will be keeping that loan with you,I will be wighting a reg check form my new bank,Sonovis bank (free atm at all Publixes) that technically offers my family about 750 + banking locations in Florida alone!!! when ever i feel like it!make you have to start litigation then ill run in with a check!!!!p.s. this is true just check it out!!

Wachovia Mortgage
2 stars - Anonymous - Wednesday, September 8, 2010 - 10:11 AM

Without a doubt the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my 40 years as a customer  and also as an employee /officer of banks. In trying to get the status and verification of my recently paid off mortgage I ran into nothing but incompetence and un-helpfulness. Without going into a lot of details, getting any useful "human" assistance has been hopeless. The low level people can't help and they have apparently been instructed to go into "robot" mode if you ask to speak to a supervisor - even when they clearly cannot answer your question or help you in any way.

Also the bank relies upon snail mail so it takes weeks to get a response which then turns out to be lacking in specificity, i.e. you can't tell what they want and they won't talk on the phone to explain.

I plan to close all my accounts with Wachovia even though my retail banking experience wasn't so bad.

Simple And Quiet Free Student Checking Accounts
5 stars - kauthor - Friday, February 18, 2011 - 3:28 PM

I was able to get my free checking account about two years ago. To this day, I haven't had a problem except for the first deposit, and that required me to walk to the Wachovia Branch nearby, and I had to walk there and deposit my first check. A few days ago, I decided to really check on my banking statements, and found that there was some inquiry on my statements, but otherwise, my banking is perfect, because I am a student.

Incompetence In Seemingly Basic Services
3 stars - anabanana745 - Sunday, June 5, 2011 - 12:56 AM

I have been a customer of Wachovia for about 6 years now. Over those years have slowly phased out my use of the bank because of the many problems I have experienced with them. When my card was stolen, Wachovia took the liberty of sending my new card to an old address that I changed 4 years ago. I have long been receiving statements at my new address. When I called to complain that I was without my card for 3 weeks, they shipped a new card to me via fedex. They then took the liberty of changing my pin number. As a result I am still unable to use the card until I take time off work to go to the bank and select a new pin number. But this incident is only the beginning of their problems. Any time I use Wachovia's bill pay system, it takes at least 2 days to go through. As a result I have received many late fees when I forgot that there is a weekend coming up since those are not business days. This means if you have a payment due on a Monday, to be safe you need to submit the billpay request by Wednesday/ Thursday. In bank of America, my payments go through the next day. We are all busy people. Who has time to be calculating when you need to submit your payments for them to go through. It is incompetent for a bank billpay service to have such a delay. There is a reason they went bankrupt back in the day.
