Coins Treated Almost As If They're Not Legal Tender

As of Feb. 15, 2012, the use of WPCU's machine to count coins - even if the entire amount is deposited to an existing account - will cost 2% of the value (8% for non-members). Also included on their fee schedule is the charge of $0.25 per roll of coin to be deposited.

In comparison, the LAFCU does NOT charge for the use of the coin machine at their Glendale location. They also have a daily max of 10 rolls of coin for deposit without extra fees.

Actually, my big bank has a better "coin policy" than WPCU. When I asked one of the tellers about the 2% fee, I got this response: "It's only 2%...". Sure. It will take me years to get a 2% interest on my savings account.

Don't believe their customer service when they claim that other banks charge too.
