HSBC's New Signup Bonus
Oct 8, 2005 - 3:02 PM by Ken Tumin
HSBC's $50 Smart Package signup bonus ended in September. Currently, HSBC doesn't seem to be offering any publicly available signup bonuses. However, a signup bonus for HSBC's OnlineSavings account continues. The signup bonus is now $35 for the month of October. As I mentioned in this previous post, this promotion is given out by HSBC to select customers. However, the link to the promotion page is public, and it appears you may be able to get the bonus if you sign up through the promo page. But there's no guarantee. Refer to this Fatwallet thread for more info about this promotion.
Even without the bonus, HSBC's OnlineSavings Account is a good deal. The current interest rate is 3.75% and there's no minimum. It has the same linking feature as ING Direct that allows you to do ACH transfers of money in or out all online. Unlike ING Direct, it offers an ATM and debit card. HSBC has a long list of FAQs about this account.
