World Savings 4.86% 6-month CD
Dec 30, 2005 - 9:12 AM by Ken Tumin
World Savings Bank is offering a 6-month 4.86% APY CD special. As is typical with World Savings this special isn't advertised on its website. It was reported by this fatwallet thread. You'll have to call your local World Savings branch to see if it's available. The CD requires new money.
World Savings also has a 4.61% 8-month CD internet special that is advertised on the website. It has a minimum required deposit of $10K. There are different deals available at the branches. Branches in Texas and some other states are offering a 4.41% APY 4-month CD. The minimum deposit requirement for this 4-month certificate of deposit is $25K.

Please verify this thread from fatwallet? I can't locate the right WS branch that offers 4.86 APY 6 months CD.

Refer to the second to last page of the thread. One person reported that this CD wasn't available at Pennsylvania branches. Another reported that it wasn't available in Northern California branches.

thanks. I actually went down to a World Savings branch and the manager there was nice enough to give me a preview of the generic letter that is going out. I posted the info on fatwallet under ima1961. Yes, 6 months CD at 4.86 % APY- new money only and expires on 1/28/06 - can beat that

Thanks for the info. Yes, a 4.86% 6-month CD is an excellent deal. I see from your post that there's a minimum of $10K, max $100K per household address. Also, it should be good for all World Savings locations, but no online applications are permitted.
