5.25% 13-Month CD at Suntrust Bank
Jul 8, 2008 - 6:23 PM by Ken Tumin
Update: This CD is no longer available. Please check with the bank for the latest rates.
Suntrust Bank advertised in several Sunday newspapers a 5.25% APY 13-month certificate of deposit with a $2K minimum. It was advertised in the Orlando Sentinel, the Richmond-Times Dispatch and the Washington Post. A scan of the ad is available in this iBankDesign thread. The special isn't listed at the bank's website. The offer is good for consumer and business accounts. It's only available for new CD and IRA accounts and not CDs that are maturing.
SunTrust Bank has over 1700 bank branches across southeastern states, including Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC.
For the commenter who mentioned the Richmond ad in the finding deals post, thanks!

Looks like Suntrust is now advertising this on their web site.

Thanks for the link!
Looks like the 5.25% CD isn't available for all SunTrust banks. In many parts of Florida, Tennessee and Virginia the special is offered along with with Washington DC and Atlanta. All other regions the special is only 5%.

Hm, I have never been a Suntrust Bank customer. May be I should be?..

This is ridiculous! SunTrust is posting a 2006 ad. Their current rates are only about a third of what's in this ad.

These posts are not ads, but news of the best rates being offered by banks on specific dates.
Please note the date in the post and the warnings about posts being out-of-date. I keep these posts for history's sake so that rate histories of banks can be compared. I've added an update to the post specifically warning that this CD has long ended.
