5.80% 5-Month CD at a Tennessee Bank

Reliant Bank is offering a 5.80% APY 5-month certificate of deposit. The minimum is $10K and the maximum deposit is $300K. The funds must be new to the bank. The special CD requires a customer to have or open a Reliant Bank checking account. You can open a checking account for just $100 with no monthly fees.

Reliant Bank is a small bank with one branch in located in Brentwood, Tennessee which is just south of Nashville.

I just initiated a transfer from HSBC savings to my local Nashville bank in order to take advantage of this CD at Reliant. I'll let you all know the details next week.

Got the CD at Reliant; took 10 minutes in person. The best part of the deal was that the manager said he'd waive the checking account requirement if it was simply going to be inactive (which it would be). So, I got a $10,000 5-month CD at 5.80% APY, interest compounded monthly. This is a neighborhood bank that has plans to move for modest expansion. Friendly service.

That's a good point regarding these specials that require a checking account. Be sure to inquire on any fees like for inactivity, and it never hurts to ask for a waiver.
