Los Angeles Times Federal Credit Union is having open house special offers that include a 6% APY 6-month certificate. The minimum deposit is $10K and it requires money new to the credit union. This offer ends on June 9th.
The other open house specials include 1) a free iPod for applying for online bill pay and paying 3 bills for 3 months, 2) $50 gift card for transfering $1K to your LATFCU VISA, and 3) 2% off current personal loan rate.
They don't go into much detail on their field of membership. They state "We are the designated credit union for the Downtown Community." I assume that people who live in Downtown L.A. are eligible. They also state: " Also serving the employees and families of: Los Angeles Times, CCN, Recycler, Aramark, Cafe Cafe, Title Court Service and Downtown LA Motors."
The credit union is NCUA insured with $55 million in assets and 6,790 members.
