Westsound Bank is offering a 6.00% APY 18-month certificate of deposit. The minimum is $500.

The bank has branches in Washington State cities of Bremerton, Port Angeles, Port Orchard, Silverdale, Gig Harbor, Poulsbo and Sequim.

Just curious .. Can I take advantage of this offer if I am in Florida .. I see no online Application... I noticed the bank is in Washington.

Just called their toll free number (numbers listed at the branches page). It is available to those from out of state. They can send the application to you by mail. You have to fund the CD by a check.

Also, the early withdrawal penalty is only 3-months of interest.

I live in Texas and called Westsound Bank to have them mail an application to open the CD. I was told they had a meeting today concerning out of state CDs and made the determination that people must come into their branch in person (with ID) in order to purchase. This results in out of state people being unable to purchase.

Thanks for the info. This seems to be common occurrence. A small bank initially plans to allow out-of-state deposits by mail. Then when they start getting several requests, they rethink their policy. Hopefully, more banks will decide on their policy before they post the deal on their website.
