7.00% 7-Month CD at a California CU ($7K Max)

Jun 21, 2006 - 8:38 AM by Ken Tumin

Heritage Community Credit Union is offering a CD special called the Magnificent Seven Certificate. It's a 7% APY 7-month CD with a minimum and maximum deposit of $7K. Money must be new to the credit union. The certificate special expires 7/27/06.

One thing nice about this CD special is that it doesn't require you to open a checking account which seems common for very-high yield CD specials. The 7% APY is about 1.4% higher than World Savings current 5.61% 7-month CD. So the extra 1.4% for 7-months on $7K will earn you an extra $57.

The field of membership includes anyone who lives, works, worships or goes to school in Sacramento or Placer Counties.

Heritage Community Credit Union has branches in the California cities of Folsom, Elk Grove, Mather and Fair Oaks.

The credit union is NCUA insured. It has $239 million in assets and over 28K members.

Sorry did not notice that this was a $7k min/max CD I saw it first on eMoneyCentral and they have it as no Max. I think these low max CDs are a waste and not worth the hassle to open and close, get another 1099 just to make $57

"Heritage Community Credit Union in California offers members 7.00% APY on a 7-Month Certificate.
The 7-Month CD special at Heritage Community Credit Union is called the Magnificent 7 certificate. That's because it offers 7.00% annual percentage yield for 7 months.
It takes a minimum deposit of $7,000 in new funds (money not currently on deposit at the Credit Union). Unlike many of these high-yield promotions, there is not a maximum deposit limit."

No problem. It would be better without the $7K max, but it still might be a good deal for those with only $7K to invest in a short term CD.
