$75 Checking Account Bonus at a Washington State CU (open to all)

The America's Credit Union is still offering a $75 bonus for opening a new Checking Direct or Choice Checking account with direct deposit. Both accounts only require an opening deposit of $1, however, $50 in the regular share savings account is required. The Checking Direct has no minimum balance requirements.
To receive the bonus, the direct deposit must be initiated within 30 days of account opening and the direct deposit must be at least $250. Also, the checking account must be opened for 12 months with direct deposit or the $75 bonus will be debited from the account at closing.
The credit union has branches in several Washington State cities including Olympia and Tacoma.
The field of membership allows anyone to join via a one-time membership fee of $33 to the Association of the United States Army. You can apply online here, and you can fund the intial deposit by mailing in a check, by an electronic transfer (probably ACH) or even by credit card.
I had first posted on this deal in January. The terms seem to have remained the same. I had mentioned in January of the lack of competitive interest rates. There has been some improvement. The credit union currently has a special 5.25% APY 7-month certificate of deposit with a $25K minimum deposit. It allows funds to be added at anytime and allows unlimited rate bumps.
Thanks to the commenter thecpa who mentioned this checking account bonus in the finding deals post.

There is a way around the $33 fee. Simply select the "civilian" option when you sign-up.

Thanks for the info on that sign-up option.
