6.00% 36-Month CD at an Illinois CU (USA One National)

Sep 3, 2006 - 3:03 PM by Ken Tumin

USA One National Credit Union is offering a 6.00% 3-year certificate of deposit. The minimum is $10K. New money is required. After the first 12 months of the 3-year term, you may upgrade the interest rate one time if a higher rate is being offered by the credit union. The current standard 36-month CD APY is 5.74%, so this bump feature has some chance of being useful.

The field of membership includes those who live or work in areas in and around Chicago. Also, there are 400 select employee groups. A $25 minimum balance in a savings account is required for membership.

Branches are located in Matteson and Bensenville, Illinois.

USA One National Credit Union is not NCUA insured. It is privately insured by American Share Insurance. It has $33.9 million in total assets. It's rated 3 out of 5 stars by Bankrate.com (performing).

I believe Sterling Bank in San Francisco is offering 5.5% for a five-year cd.
