7.25% 7-Month CD at a New York / Pennsylvania CU (Visions)

Visions FCU is offering a special 7.25% APY (7% interest rate) 7-month certificate. The minimum deposit is $2.5K and the maximum is $100K. It's only available to new members to the credit union and requires a relationship package. This special is not listed on the credit union's website. A reader mentioned this, and I contacted the credit union's CSR for the details. The CSR did not know how long this promotion would last.
The field of membership includes those who live, work or worship in Broome, Chenango, Tioga, Schuyler or East/Central Chemung Counties in New York or Bradford County in Pennsylvania. There's a $1 membership fee and a $25 minimum deposit requirement into the Share Money Manager Account.
Branches are located in the New York cities of Binghamton, Elmira, Endicott, Endwell, Horseheads, Johnson City, Newark Valley, Owego, Spencer, Syracuse, Vestal and Watkins Glen. In Pennsylvania, the branches are in Sayre and Wysox.
The credit union is NCUA insured. It has over $1.7 billion in assets and over 114K members.

This is an absolutely fantastic deal! I sure wish anyone could take advantage. When they limit the opportunity to new members only it is very tough and very hard on existing members.

Uh, you have to seek out your nearest Visions office, go in and ask. That's what I meant. Sorry it will not help you to ask here. Also, before you ask, you'd better have "new" money. Otherwise they will not "grant". To use somewhat less biblical language: "If you don't ask you don't get". Good luck!
