Armstrong County Building and Loan Association is offering a 6-year certificate of deposit with a yield of 5.80% APY. The minimum to open is $500. The early withdrawal penalty is six months of interest. It also has a bump-up feature that allows one request of an interest rate increase to the current 6-year CD rate during the term.
The bank is a small community savings and loan located in Ford City, Pennsylvania which is about 30 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
The bank is FDIC insured. It has a safe and sound rating of 4 out of 5 stars (sound) at Bankrate.com.
Best Nationally Available Long-Term CD Rates
The highest 5-year CD rate listed at Bankrate.com continues to be at E-LOAN with a rate of 5.75% APY. There's a big drop after E-LOAN with the second best rate of 5.48% APY at First Internet Bank. As you can see in my weekly summary, you can do a little better than E-LOAN at Melrose Credit Union with a 5-year 5.82% APY CD. Over the last few months, long-term CD rates have declined at most banks and credit unions.
