City Bank and Trust Co. is offering a special 6.00% APY 12-month certificate of deposit. The minimum deposit is $10,000.

Branches are located in Lincoln and Crete, Nebraska. It's not clear if they require a branch visit to open the CD or if they accept out-of-state deposits. Please leave a comment if you are able to contact the bank.

The bank has been FDIC insured since 1934. It has a safe and sound rating of 3 out of 5 stars (sound) at Bankrate.com.

CSR confirmed that it's available to anyone. They require copies of DL and SSN along with a notarized verification of your ID. I didn't ask about funding method or how long this rate would be available.

I called Nebraska Bank today, they do not accept out of state deposits. This offer is only available till 11/15/2006.

Called the bank today. Spoke with CSR Becky. Asked her if CD was available to people from out of state and she said no out of state funds is accepted.

Thanks for checking on this. As was mentioned, it looks like it ended yesterday (11/15/2006).
