Great Lakes Credit Union
Great Lakes Credit Union is offering two nice promos. The first is a 6.00% APY 13-month IRA certificate. The second is a 5.55% APY 5-month share certificate. The minimum deposit is $500.

Field of membership includes those who live or work in Lake or McHenry Counties of Illinois or Kenosha County of Wisconsin. It also includes current or retired federal government employees. See site for other ways to be eligible. Membership requires a minimum $5 deposit into a savings account. Branches are located in Chicago, Gurnee, Libertyville, Round Lake Beach and Waukegan.

The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA. It has $387 million in assets and 41,741 members.

I'm not sure if CDs are the best investments in an IRA. In the long run, mutual funds usually perform better.

It sucks that Penfed ended their rate. Do you believe interest rates are coming down?
