5.47% 12-Month CD and 4.51% Checking at Quantum National Bank

Quantum National Bank is offering a 5.47% APY 12-month certificate of deposit (see rate table). The minimum deposit is $1,000. It's also available as an IRA, however, according to the service rep only the regular CDs are available to out-of-state customers.

Quantum Bank also has a competitive checking account called the Hi-Rate Checking. It has long been paying 4.51% APY on balances over $10,000 (1.50% for lower balances). It offers free checks and Bill Pay. There's a $15/month service charge for balances that fall below $2,500 (unless you're 55 or older).

The CDs are available as business accounts. The business money market account has a rate of 4.21% APY for balances over $10K.

Account applications are available online and must be printed and mailed along with the initial deposit. The service rep said that a copy of the driver's license is also required. According to the application, new accounts are verified through ChexSystems.

Quantum Bank is located in Suwanee and Alpharetta, Georgia which are just north of Atlanta. Quantum has been FDIC insured since 1995.
