5.50% 11-Month CD at an Oregon CU (OnPoint Community)

OnPoint Community Credit Union is offering a special 11 month certificate of deposit with a yield of 5.50% APY. The minimum deposit is $5,000, and it requires Direct Deposit to a new or existing OnPoint Checking account. Without Direct Deposit, the APY is 5.25%. New money is required unless you have been a member for 10 or more years.

My last report on this credit union was in October when they had a special one-day 7.50% 12-month CD without a deposit cap. You don't see these kinds of promos too often.

Field of membership includes those who live or work in Benton, Clackamas, Columbia, Lane, Linn, Marion, Multnomah, Polk, Washington, or Yamhill counties of Oregon. There is a $15 membership fee ($5 of which is refundable when you close the account). A minimum $5 deposit into a savings account is also required.

The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 62745). It has $2.2 billion in assets and 177k members.
