7.00% 7-Month CD at a California / Texas CU - $7K Max (Premier America)

POSTED ON BY

Premier America Credit Union
Premier America Credit Union is again advertising its 7-7-7 certificate special which offers 7% APY for 7-months with a maximum deposit of $7,000. It requires a new checking account with Direct Deposit or Bill Pay. As before it doesn't seem to be listed at the credit union's website. It was advertised in today's Ventura County Star. The ad is available online here.

On May 5th I had also posted on their 12% 12-month CD with a $1,200 max deposit (see post). The 12% CD was being advertised in Houston, however, I called their toll-free number (800-772-4000), and the customer service rep said both the 12-12-12 and the 7-7-7 specials were available to all new members regardless of location.

For more information about these CD specials and membership into Premier America Credit Union, please refer to my May 5th post.

The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 68428). It has $1.27 billion in assets and over 73,187 members.

I called today (6/9/07), and I was told that both the 7-7-7 and the 12-12-12 CDs are still available (at all locations).

Another detail I learned is that the checking account requires a minimum deposit of $250 in addition to direct deposit.

I am SO EXCITED!!! This is my first post. I've been watching Bankdeal posts for quite a while and just started the credit card 0% BT venture...So, about PREMIER! I went yesterday with a household family member. We got there about 4:30, they close at 5:00. We waited about 10-15 minutes. The rep. we got to help us, Christian, didn't seem very informed...like he went to the meetings but didn't listen. I showed him the print-out on bankdeals website and he went to their website saying I don't see this, so I showed him the string, again. He gave me the impression that I wasn't eligible. He said a flyer was sent out to specific "members". I saw where this was going and had no time to waste and promptly asked for a manager. Then he said, let me finish, I'm not sure if it's still available for new members---"manager" I insisted-times a wasting...So the manager switched clients with him. I told her what I wanted, showed her the flyer. She said I can't guarantee their information. I said that's fine. While thinking that's stupid, you just got a free ad. End result, we were able to open: (1) 12-12-12 each! AND we can open (1) 7-7-7 EACH, too~ YES!!! I paid the $250 + 5(Savings Fee) + $5 (Savings Deposit) + $25 (checking fee min. balance).
AND they have give you $50 to refer someone-so of course I tried saying banking guy but I don't think you have an account there...so is it bad if your viewers use my name...if it's ok, I'll give it next post!

This was my first Bankdeal experience and I am happy~!

But I have a question: what is the formula to figuring out how much I'll make with %/time and amount? I wish there was 1 chart or spreadsheet using $1000 and 5% as the comparison rate-that listed all the percentages and max deposit and time periods on one chart. Kind of like the tip chart...

Maybe my other postings will be shorter, but this one I wanted to share the exciting news!!
Thanks Dr. Banking Guy!
