6.00% 13-Month CD at an Ohio CU (Sun Center)

Jun 11, 2007 - 12:30 PM by Ken Tumin

Sun Center FCU is offering a promotional certificate of deposit with a yield of 6.00% APY and a term of 13 months. The minimum deposit is $1,000, and it requires money new to the credit union.

Regarding eligibility, at the bottom of their home page it states:
If you are employed in the education, government, healthcare, construction or service fields - or live, work, attend school or worship in Lorain County, you are eligible to become a member of Sun Center Federal Credit Union.

Branches are located in the Ohio cities of LaGrange, Oberlin, Ridgeville, Wellington and South Amherst. Late last year the credit union changed its name to Sun Center FCU and expanded its charter to include all of Lorain County. Previously, the credit union was named Cleveland Center FCU. It's federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 22421). It has $29.8 million in assets and 4,275 members.

[Update 12:30pm 6/11/07: Credit union changed the CD term from 6 to 13 months.]

Their website shows 13 month term for the 6.00% special, not 3 months.

P.S. Just my opinion, but this CU's website looks pretty amateur.

Correction 7:55 AM -- I meant "not 6 months," per the original post.
