Garden City Bank continues to offer very competitive rates on its long term certificates of deposit. The high rates include a 5.90% APY for a 72-month CD and a 5.64% APY for a 60-month CD. The minimum deposit is $100. They're also advertising a special 6-year IRA CD with a yield of 6.11% APY.
Garden City Bank has been offering these rates through out 2007 and for much of 2006. My last report on them was in May. For awhile they were taking out-of-state deposits, but a reader left a comment in January stating that this has ended. Another reader just left a comment in the May post saying that he had just opened a CD at the bank. It was a long drive, but he was pleased with the customer service and the high rates.
The bank is located in Garden City, Missouri which is about 30 miles southeast of Kansas City. It has been FDIC insured since 1934 (FDIC Certificate # 8283).
