$150 Checking Account Bonus at Imperial Capital Bank in San Francisco

POSTED ON BY

Imperial Capital Bank is offering a $150 checking account bonus at its San Francisco branch. The promotional website for this bonus is located here. You have to print out the coupon and visit their San Francisco branch at 580 California Street, Suite 150. Important bonus details include:
  • $250 minimum balance to open checking account and earn bonus
  • Expires on September 30, 2007
  • $75 is earned for establishing direct deposit at time of opening
  • $25 is earned for activating online banking within 30 days of opening your account
  • $50 is earned for making 5 online bill payments within 60 days of openining your account

Some other details to remember:
  • Accounts closed within the first 180 days are subject to an early closure fee of $75
  • All Bonuses will be deposited into your new checking account
  • Account opening for NEW non-interest checking accounts only
  • Bonus is limited to one new checking account per household
  • Customer is responsible for all applicable State and Federal taxes

The Easy Money Checking does have some nice features which are listed at the promo webpage. These include free checks, ATM fees waived all over the world and free online bill pay. There's no mention of monthly fees. You have to be careful of checking accounts that may require a high monthly minimum balance to avoid fees. That can easily ruin the bonus.

Thanks to Marc who mentioned this bonus in the finding deals post.

In Account Details/Restrictions, it says: Open a non-interest checking account that includes direct deposit and earn $75...

It is not very clear, but it looks like without a direct deposit the rest ($25+$75) may not apply? Direct deposit a pre-condition?

A similar promo was recently offered by Amalgamated Bank. When I called, they required DD to trigger the other parts of their bonus.

Well, it is quite clear this offer definitely requires DD. From Account Details/Restrictions: To be eligible for the Bonus you must also establish direct deposit at the time of opening.

They have a 24 hour number: 888 886-3573

I was told:

1) Monthly electronic ACH deposit meets condition of dd.

2) No monthly maintenance fees or mininum balance

I like the feature the foreign ATM fees are reversed.

Looks like I'll be opening an account this week.

Thanks for bringing this up.

i don't think the personal i checking is the same as the "easy money" checking in this offer...

Imperial has seperate online and bricks and mortar accounts, and this likely isn't the same thing....

easy money has to be opened, with coupon, at the San Francisco branch...and also requires direct deposit be set up at time of opening...

Those opening online and that think any ach in will qualify may be heading for disapointment on this bonus deal...

I think you may be getting bad info from their customer reps about this...proceed with caution!

I just wanted to check how safe this bank was...then, this bank even did not exist in their bank list...
What does this mean?
