One notable perk of the free checking is the rebates of foreign ATM fees. Like the typical free checking there are no monthly service fees, no minimum balance requirements and online bill pay is free.

Paypal does not count as DD but you can open account on line.
They are supposed to call you back to open the account.

I opened this account and set up DD but they haven't posted the bonus. Getting in touch with anyone at this bank is very difficult as they have no customer service line and don't pick up the branch phones.

it looks like the bank is now accepting new checking accounts online at their website www.metropolitanbankny.com; I called the bank in New York and was told they have a new toll free number (866-435-9099)too.
