EXPIRED: 5.64% 15-Month CD at a New York/Florida CU (People's Alliance)

Sep 20, 2007 - 6:53 PM by Ken Tumin

Peoples Alliance Credit Union

People's Alliance Federal Credit Union has a special 5.64% APY 15-month share certificate. The minimum deposit is $500. It doesn't seem to be listed at their website. A reader emailed me info on this, and I called today for further information. I was told that it does not require a checking account, and it's available at all of their branches and by mail. The customer service rep wasn't sure when it would end. It started on August 30th, so it likely won't last past September.

Membership is open to those who live, work, worship or attend school in several areas of New York including Brooklyn, Southampton, Bayport and Stony Brook, and in Miami and Hialeah, Florida. You can also be eligible via Select Employer groups and via family. Please see the credit union's Who Can Join page for more details. Membership requires a minimum deposit of $50 into the prime share savings account.

Branches are located in the New York cities of Jamaica, Brooklyn, Bronxville, Ronkonkoma, Westbury, Yonkers and Hauppauge, and in Miami, Florida. The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 3633). It has $194.0 million in assets and 44,466 members.

Thanks to the reader who emailed me info on this special CD.
