5.50% 7-Month CD at a California CU - and $100 Checking Account Bonus (CommonWealth Central)

POSTED ON BY

Commonwealth Central Credit Union
CommonWealth Central Credit Union is offering a special certificate with a yield of up to 5.50% APY. The minimum deposit is $5,000. The 5.50% yield requires that you open a checking account with a minimum opening balance or $250. Current credit union members must have both the checking and direct deposit. There's also a special 5.25% APY 7-month liquid share certificate that allows unlimited deposits of $500 or more during the term and up to six withdrawals per month. This has the same checking account requirement as the 5.50% CD.

The credit union also has a checking account promotion in which you can earn up to $100. The first $50 is awarded for just opening a checking account. Another $50 is awarded for direct deposit. This offer expires on November 30, 2007. A minimum deposit of $250 is required. The small print states that it can't be combined with any other offer, so I don't know if you could do both this checking account bonus and the 5.50% CD.

The credit union's free checking account seems to qualify for these promotions.

Membership is open to those who live or work in Santa Clara County. Please see the credit union's membership page for more details. Membership requires a $5 fee and a minimum deposit of $100 into your share savings account.

Branches are located in Sunnyvale, Milpitas, San Jose and Morgan Hill, California. The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 61741). It has $367.8 million in assets and 40,926 members.

You won't stay there. I live near a branch - never joined. Their rates have been very low for years.
