6.00% 4-Month CD at a New York Credit Union (TEG).

POSTED ON BY

Update 10/23/07: This CD special is no longer available.

TEG Federal Credit Union has just started a special 6.00% APY 4-month certificate. The minimum deposit is $25,000. A yield of 5.75% APY is available for a minimum deposit of $10,000. New money is required. This special doesn't seem to be listed at the credit union's website. A reader emailed me info this, and I just called the credit union for additional details. According to the service rep, there's no maximum balance, but amounts over $100K may require management approval. There's no scheduled end date. The service rep said that it could last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.

Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in the New York counties of Dutchess, Orange or Ulster. Please see the membership page for more details. Membership requires a minimum deposit of $5 into your share savings account.

Branches are located in Poughkeepsie, Fishkill, Poughquag, Hyde Park and New Windsor. The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 19401). It has $148.3 million in assets and 23,713 members.

Thanks to the reader who emailed info on this special.

banking guy, i don't know what your policy is on religious organizations, but the lutheran church extension fund (lcef) is offering a 2-yr note with a 6.136% apy. minimum deposit of $500. the obvious drawback w/ this is that it's not FDIC-insured, but if folks want to take the risk it's a terrific rate. url: http://www.lcef.org/downloads/literature_rack/6percent-2yr-bull-and-appl_s00272_2007-08-21.pdf
