5.35% 60-Month / 5.20% 18-Month CD at a Washington State CU (BECU)

POSTED ON BY

BECU has some competitive rates on its certificates of deposit. The top yield is 5.35% APY for a Jumbo 60-month CD (minimum deposit $100K). Some other Jumbo CD rates include a 5.16% APY for a 12-month term and 5.20% APY for 18, 24 and 30 month terms. The rates for a $50K minimum are about 10 basis points lower, and the rates for a $500 minimum are about 20 basis points lower. The IRA certificates have similar rates. My last report on BECU was in September when the 60-month Jumbo CD had a yield of 5.55% APY.

BECU's tiered money market account also has some competitive yields ranging from 4.35% APY to 4.85% APY. For those with small savings balances, you can earn 7.50% on the first $500 on both their savings and checking accounts. I first reported on this last year.

Membership is open to those who live, work, worship or attend school in any Washington state school district. The Select Employee Group includes Boeing and its susidiaries or affiliates. Please refer to their Eligibility page for more details. A minimum deposit of $5 into the savings account is required for membership.

Branches are located through out Washington State including the cities of Seattle, Everett, Olympia, Redmond and Tacoma. BECU is one of the largest credit unions in the nation with $7.6 billion in assets and 520,384 members. It's federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 62604).

Thanks to the reader who mentioned these BECU CDs in the comments.
