5.00% 6-Month CD at a Tampa Bank - plus $50 Checking Bonus (Central Bank)

POSTED ON BY

Central Bank (FL)

Central Bank is offering a 5.00% APY 6-month certificate of deposit. The minimum deposit is $2,500. It requires opening a Simply Free Checking Account. Without this, the yield is reduced by 25 basis points.

This doesn't seem to be listed at the bank's website. It was advertised in today's Tampa Tribune. The ad is available online here. It's a grand opening special that's only for the bank's new branch at 20701 Bruce B. Downs Blvd, Tampa, FL, 33647 (813-929-4477). A branch visit is required.

When you open the checking account you may also be eligible for up to a $50 bonus. This is shown on their webpage. To qualify for $25 you must either establish direct deposit, set up an auto-debit to the account, or sign up and activate the Web-Bill Pay service within 60 days of account opening. Another $25 is available for unused checks from another bank. It doesn't say how many unused checks it'll take to receive $25 (That's one good reason to keep old checks).

I did call to verify these specials are current as of this morning, but with yesterday's major Fed rate cut, rates may change quickly. So be sure to call before driving to the branch.

Central Bank was just established in February, 2007. It's a member FDIC (Certificate # 58377).

Finally a local deal I could participate in. Stopped by this morning and opened the free checking account. No hard pull; just ChexSystems. To receive the full $25 bonus for unused checks, a full box is required; otherwise, the bonus is $5 per book. The lady I dealt with said I can just bring in the checks later. They also are giving away a free gift: duffel bag, beach bag, coffee mug, etc.

Thanks for the info. Glad to read you were able to participate in this deal. I'll continue to keep an eye out for future Tampa deals.
