Consumers Credit Union is having a CD special with a yield of 5.21% APY available on terms from 6 to 11 months. The minimum deposit is $1,000, and the maximum is $250,000. It's available as both a regular and IRA certificate.

Update 1/6/08: A reader mentioned being told that a working checking account is required for this CD special.

I last reported on this credit union in November when their CD special was 5.25% APY for terms from 6 to 60 months.

Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in any one of 12 counties in Michigan. Please refer to the credit union's membership page for the full details. Membership requires a minimum deposit of $25 into your share savings account.

Branches are located in Kalamazoo, Portage, South Haven, Holland, Lawton and Coldwater. The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 62172). It has $226.6 million in assets and 28,460 members.

My brother-in-law stopped at the Gull Road branch on Saturday morning and the branch manager told him he would only open the CD if he switched his working checking account to them.
