Update on Chase and Bank of America Checking Account Bonuses

Feb 21, 2008 - 9:18 AM by Ken Tumin

Chase has another $100 bonus coupon page for its Checking Account with direct deposit. Unlike the $125 bonus page that I posted on last week, this one is publicly available. You don't have to already be logged into your Chase account to view the page. Here's the new $100 Chase coupon page link. Remember that these pages often don't last long, so if you don't see the $100 coupon, it's likely to have ended. This one does require a branch visit by March 31, 2008. Credit for this find goes to this SlickDeals thread.

For those who have a Chase credit card and can log into a Chase account, refer to this post for a $125 bonus.

You may also be able to get a $125 coupon from your local post office. Please refer to this post for more details and for issues related to Chase, this checking account and these promotions.

Don't forget you can stack this new account bonus with a $25 refer-a-friend bonus.

Bank of America Checking Account Bonus

Bank of America used to have a $100 bonus for opening a new checking account, but this has recently gone down to $75. They continue to update their promotion page at this link. The current $75 offer requires that the account be opened before April 30, 2008. The offer code is AOU260208. For more details about this promotion and the MyAccess Checking account, please refer to this post.

Note, these bonuses typically require that you are a new checking account customer.

I don't know about anyone else, but BOA sends me more junk mail than any other bank I have an account at.

NO, American Express wins that honor by a wide margin.

I got my bonuses from Chase (checking) and BofA (checking, credit card.) Thanks to this blog.

By the way, I don't receive any promo neither from BofA nor from American Express. May be b'cos I did't subscribe for promos :)

it's good to know about these bonuses but this is too little a bonus for me to open an account/close my existing account/hassles of moving all auto-debit bills, etc. Am I alone in thinking this!

With rates going the way that they are, I'll take what I can get. It doesn't require that much effort and it's not a large amount of money. Bank of America is a crummy company though. I used to work for them while I was in school, and they are horrid in the way they treat their workers (low pay, near low benefits, horrible managers). I used to have a Mastercard under MBNA and when BoA took over, suddenly my interest rate went up, I started receiving a lot more checks to transfer my balances and it took a lot longer for them to credit my accounts when I send in payments via mail. When I called in to dispute a charge, the rate was up on that, too. But here I am, giving them money...

Does anyone know if I'm eligible if I used to be a former B of A customer? I currently have no accounts with them, but I did have some in the past.
