4.00% 40-Month / 3.00% 4-Month CD at a Maine CU - No Early Withdrawal Penalty (Penobscot)

POSTED ON BY

Update 4/05/08: The yields have fallen by 100 basis points. The 40-month yield is now 4.00% APY and the 4-month yield is now 3.00% APY. The title has been modified to reflect this change.

Penobscot County Federal Credit Union is offering some special certificates in celebration of its 40th anniversary. These include a 4.50% APY 40-month CD and a 4.00% APY 4-month CD. The minimum deposit is $500, and new money is required.

One nice feature with these special CDs is that they're waiving the early withdrawal penalty. For this reason, there's no reason not to choose the 40-month CD. You lock in a respectable rate for 40 months. If rates go up before then or if you need the money, you can always withdraw the money without a penalty.

Membership is open to those who live, work, worship, attend school, volunteer, have immediate family, own a business, or are an organization in Penobscot County. Please see the credit union's Membership page for more details. Membership requires a $5 account creation fee and a minimum deposit of $5 in the share savings account.

Branches are located in the Maine cities of Old Town, Bangor and Enfield. The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 18507). It has $37.1 million in assets and 7,201 members.
