High-Yield Reward Checking Account at Vermont Federal Credit Union

Vermont Federal Credit Union is offering a reward checking account that pays 2.00% APY for balances up to $25,000 (0.65% for above) and refunds ATM fees (up to $25 per month) if the following monthly requirements are met: 1) 12 debit card purchases, 2) one direct deposit or ACH payment, 3) access online banking, and 4) receive e-mail indicating your e-Statement is ready. If these are not met, the rate falls to 0.10%. There are no monthly fees or minimum balance requirements.
Membership is open to those who live, work, worship or attend school in Chittenden, Grand Isle, Franklin, Lamoille, Washington or Addison counties. Please see the credit union's Membership page for more details. Membership requires a minimum deposit of $25 in the share savings account.
Branches are located in the Vermont cities of Burlington, Middlebury, St. Albans, South Burlington and Vergennes. The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 24405). It has $188.6 million in assets and 24,563 members.

As of 3/1/09 the top rate has fallen to 3.01%. Other rates remain same.
