Update 2/06/09: The bank has been closed. Refer to this post for more details.

Update 4/26/08: The special CD rates have gone down. Please check the bank's website for the latest rates.
Update 4/12/08: The special CD rates have gone down by 25 basis points. The new 12, 9 and 6 month yields are now 3.75%, 3.51% and 3.25% APY. The title has been modified to reflect this change.

County Bank has a new CD promotion with the following special CDs: 4.00% APY 12-month, 3.75% APY 9-month and 3.51% APY 6-month. The minimum deposit is $1,000, and the maximum is $95,000.

They had a similar promotion last month, but unlike that special, this one does not require a checking account. I was told by their banking rep that they do not do hard credit checks when you open accounts.

A branch visit is required. Branches are located in several California cities including San Francisco, San Jose, Sacramento, Stockton and Fresno. The bank has been a FDIC member since 1977 (Certificate # 22574). The bank has a 3 out of 5 star rating (performing) at Bankrate.com based on 12/31/07 data.

I passed by the branch on 595 Market St in San Francisco around 1 PM this afternoon. The bank was so quiet, and there is no customer at the branch. I only saw one lady (Manager or employee) at the branch. I don't feel comfortable to open an account with them. Anyone has experienced with them?
