4.00% Reward Checking Account at Kansas City Banks (Valley View Financial Group)

POSTED ON BY

Update 8/08/09: The top rate has fallen to 4.00% APY. Refer to the bottom of the post for the rate history.

Valley View Financial Group is a partnership of community banks in the Kansas City metro area. Each of these banks are offering a reward checking account that pays 4.00% APY on balances up to $25,000 (1.00% for above) and refunds ATM fees of up to $25 per cycle if the following monthly requirements are met:
  • 15 debit card purchases
  • one direct deposit or ACH transaction
  • receive electronic statements
If these are not met, the rate falls to 0.25%. The minimum initial deposit is $100. There are no minimum balance requirements and no monthly service charges.

It appears that these banks require a branch visit to open the checking account. Refer to the websites of the individual banks for the branch locations. Below are links to the banks' websites along with the FDIC certificate numbers and links to the banks' FDIC webpages:

It looks like they may have let the domain name expire. But I reviewed the WHOIS database, and they just updated the entry today, and the domain name has been extended for another 2 years. Let's check back in another week and see they'll update it.
