Heritage Bank of Florida has some competitive certificate of deposit rates. The most competitive rates include a 4.75% APY for a 21-month term and a 5.35% APY for a 60-month term. Other decent rates include a 4.25% APY for a 14-month term and a 5.00% APY for a 48-month term. The minimum deposit is $1,000. These are also available in an IRA.
A branch visit is required to open new accounts. Branches are located in Lutz, Wesley Chapel and Tampa, Florida. The bank has been FDIC insured since 1999 (Certificate # 35009). It has a 3 star rating (performing) at Bankrate.com based on 3/31/08 data. This is down from 4 stars on 9/30/07 data.

In Australia owing to our now famous credit crunch we are experiencing rates like 6.95 up to 7.25 with all our major lenders adding a percentage point when ever they need to impress their shareholders. So I would love to take up an offer like Heritage
