CD and Savings Account Deals at Imperial Capital Bank

Imperial Capital Bank is now listing a 4.00% APY 6-month internet CD. They still have a 4% APY 9-month iCD that I first reported on in July. Minimum deposit is $2,000.

Imperial Capital Bank is also offering a 3.75% APY savings account with the rate guaranteed through 9/21/08. Unlike the iCDs, this is a branch-only offer. The 3.75% applies to branches in Las Vegas and Baltimore. A yield of 3.70% APY applies to its California branches. The minimum balance to earn interst is $1,000, and there are no monthly maintenance fees. Refer to this Imperial Capital page for branch locations.

For those who don't live near an Imperial Capital branch, their iMoney Market Account is still a decent deal for large deposits (3.65% APY for $100K+).

As I mentioned in my July post, Imperial Capital has some decent checking accounts with yields above 3%. For California, they're advertising a 3.15% APY for the Senior Checking with a minimum balance of $250 (see ad). The online version of this is described here, but it lists only a 3.10% APY.

Like many of the banks in California, Imperial Capital has been hurt by the mortgage crisis. I have more details about this in my July post. As I recommend with any bank, it's best to stay under the FDIC limits. The bank has been FDIC insureds since 1985 (FDIC Certificate # 26348).

Thanks to the reader who sent me an email with these new rates.
