4.00% 7-Month CD at California Credit Union (up to 4.20%) - Easy Membership

POSTED ON BY

California Credit Union
California Credit Union has some competitive rates on its promotional certificates. The 7-month special certificate has a yield of 4.00% APY for a minimum deposit of $1,000. The yield is 4.20% APY for a $100,000 minimum deposit. There's also a 37-month certificate with a decent yield of 4.30% APY (4.50% APY for the Jumbo). These are available for both regular and IRA share certificates.

The credit union has offered several CD promotions in the last couple of years. My last report on this credit union was in February.

Credit union membership is open to members of the Parent Teacher Association or the Parent Teacher Student Association. According to the credit union's Membership Page, if you're "Not a PTA/PTSA member? We'll sign you up!" Also, public television contributors are eligible. Please see the Membership Page for the full list of ways to be eligible to join the credit union. At the bottom of the membership page is a link to an online membership application.

The main office is located in Glendale, California. It has several other branches in Los Angeles, North Hills, Encino, Pasadena and Torrance. The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 60784). It has $1.31 billion in assets and 70,210 members.

This would be one way to get more mileage out of the PTA membership we had to get so as to join Alliant CU. It's also useful if you're maxed out at Countrywide and Wachovia which both have a 4.0% 7-month CD
