4.20% 8-Month CD at Premier America Credit Union in Houston

Premier America Credit Union is advertising a 4.20% APY 8-month certificate. The minimum deposit is $5,000. It's available for both personal and business accounts. This special doesn't seem to be listed at the credit union's website. It was advertised in last Thursday's Houston Chronicle. The ad is available online here.

Premier America CU has branches in Houston and in Southern California, however, this special CD may only be for Houston. The ad only lists one branch in Houston (10001 Westheimer Rd). Membership is open to all those who live, work, worship or attend school within 10 miles of this branch.

The credit union has some decent financial ratings for soundness: 5 stars (superior) at BauerFinancial and 3 stars (performing) at Bankrate.com. Both are based on 6/30/08 data.

The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 68428). It has $1.42 billion in assets and 67,026 members.
