4.35% 14-Month CD at Heritage Bank of Florida

Heritage Bank of Florida is offering a 14-month CD with an APY of 4.35%. Minimum deposit is $1,000. This is also available in an IRA. This CD is listed in the bank's rate table as of 11/26/08. The bank also offers a checking account that pays 2.22% which is not too bad for a brick-and-mortar bank.

The bank has a history of high CD rates. My last post was in August when it was offering a 4.75% 21-month CD.

A branch visit is required to open new accounts. Branches are located in Lutz, Wesley Chapel and Tampa, Florida.

The bank has some decent financial ratings for soundness: 3 stars (performing) at Bankrate.com and 4 stars (excellent) at BauerFinancial. Both are based on 6/30/08 data. The bank has been FDIC insured since 1999 (FDIC Certificate # 35009).
