POSTED ON BY

Easton Bank and Trust
Update 8/24/11: The top yield has fallen to 2.51% APY. Refer to the bottom of the post for the rate history.

Easton Bank and Trust is offering a reward checking account which pays 2.51% APY on balances up to $25,000 (0.50% for above) and refunds ATM fees of up to $50 per cycle if the following monthly requirements are met:
  • 12 Visa debit card purchases
  • one direct deposit or ACH debit
  • receive electronic statements
If these are not met, the rate falls to 0.10%. The minimum initial deposit is $100. There are no monthly service fees and no minimum balance requirements. Multiple accounts can be opened, but requirements for each account must be met to qualify for the high yield.

There's an online application, but the application states that you have to come in to a branch location to complete the application process. Branches are located in the Maryland cities of Easton, Denton, Greensboro and Oxford. The bank has been FDIC insured since 1993 (FDIC Certificate # 33815).
