3.25% 10-Month CD & 3.40% 15-Month CD at Omni National Bank

POSTED ON BY

Update 3/27/09: The bank was closed by regulators. Refer to this post for more details.

Omni National Bank continues to list some competitive CD rates. They're down from my early January post, but they're still very competitive. The rates vary by state with the highest rates in Florida and Georgia. The most competitive CD rates are shown below:

CD rates as listed at the bank's rate tables as of 1/26/2009:

FL/GA TX/IL
Term APY APY
10 month 3.25% 3.10%
15 month 3.40% 3.25%
27 month 3.60% 3.55%

These rates are available in both regular CDs and IRA CDs. Minimum deposit is $5,000.

It appears a branch visit may be required to open an account. Branches are located in Atlanta, Dalton, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and Tampa.

The bank's financial ratings for soundness are weak: 0 stars (lowest) at BauerFinancial and 1 star (lowest) at Bankrate.com. Both ratings are based on 9/30/08 data. As I recommend with any bank, make sure you stay below the FDIC limits. The bank has been FDIC insured since 1976 (FDIC Certificate # 22238).
