4.33% 2-Year CD at AEA Federal Credit Union in Arizona

AEA Federal Credit Union is offering some competitive certificate rates. The most competitive is a special two year certificate with a 4.33% APY. Minimum deposit is $10,000, and new money is required. There's also a special penalty-free 2-year certificate with a 3.30% APY and a special 1-year certificate with a 3.56% APY. IRA certificate rates are also very competitive: 4% APY for 12 months, 4.25% APY for 24 months and 4.50% A PY for 36 months. Minimum deposit is $50,000. Rates for a a $500 minimum are 25 basis points lower. These rates are listed in the credit union's rate table as of 1/20/2009.

Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in either Yuma or La Paz County. Please refer to the credit union's Eligibility Page for the full details. Membership requires a one-time $5 fee and a minimum balance of $25 in the share savings account.

The credit union has mixed ratings for soundness: 2 star (below peer group) at Bankrate.com and 4 stars (excellent) at BauerFinancial. Both ratings are based on 9/30/08 financial data. The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 4915).
