3.00% 11-Month CD at Connexus Credit Union - Easy Membership

Connexus Credit Union is offering a special March Madness Certificate with a 3.00% APY for an 11-month term. Minimum deposit is $1,000. This rate is listed at this credit union's webpage as of 3/08/09. Other competitive CD rates are listed at the credit union's rate table as of 3/08/09. These include a 2.40% APY 6-month CD, a 2.75% APY 12-month CD and a 4.00% APY 60-month CD. There's also a competitive money market account with a 2.60% APY. This Y.E.S Money Market Account requires a $1,000 minimum balance and has a $250 withdrawal minimum.
The credit union continues to offer the Xtraordinary reward checking account with a 5.15% APY on balances up to $25,000 (see post).
Credit union membership is open to members of the Connexus Association in which anyone can join with a $5 donation to their scholarship fund. There's an online application at this CheckingFinder page in which you can join and open the reward checking account. Here are the instructions at CheckingFinder regarding the membership requirements and the initial deposits:
$50 deposit of which $5.00 will be deposited in your savings account and $5.00 will be a donation made to the Connexus Association with the remaining $40 in your checking.
Update 3/10/09: I was told by a Connexus Credit Union representative that you can apply directly through Connexus Credit Union's website at its Membership Request Page. You can then join the Connexus Association and the credit union with only $10. In the online application, select "Other" and then list that you will be joining through the Connexus Association.
The credit union is based in Wausau, Wisconsin. It is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 66538).

You can also apply for the Xtraordinary Checking account through the Credit Unions website and avoid the $50 requirement. It is only $10 when through their site.

I opened 2 of their March madness CDs - one a regular CD, the other an IRA CD. The paperwork was simple and straightforward and the CSR was extremely helpful, explained everything clearly and Emailed me the necessary forms promptly. Everyone I spoke with was unfailingly polite and professional and my account was opened up immediately. I recommended them to a friend and she later told me she had a very positive impression as well.

Excellent Service. Opened share account ($5.00), joined association ($5.00) and grabbed 11 month CD at 3.00% within a couple of hours this morning. Superior response by Email & Phone. Highly recommend.

I opened a "March Madness" CD (3.00% APY for 11 months) today. According to the CSR I spoke with, that deal will be available until the end of April.

FYI, Connexus does a hard pull on your credit report.

They no longer have the 11 month CD, they now have a 3% 36 month CD with a 10,000 min.

I was advised by a CSR that this special is not available. It has been replaced by a 36 mo cd at 3.00% APY
