Bank Deals Blog is Now on Twitter

I finally have a Twitter Page. I've been hesitant to create a Twitter page since I wasn't sure how much value it could add. Many bloggers just feed their blog posts to Twitter which didn't seem too useful. However, a friend suggested another way to use it that could make it much more useful. As I come across deals or banking news, I'll do quick Twitter posts (tweets). Some of these may lead to blog posts. Other deals that aren't that great will just be on Twitter. I've already done 10 tweets today.

Twitter forces you to keep tweets very short (no more than 140 characters). The nice thing about this is that it'll make it easy for me to do quick tweets. A blog post may take me 30 minutes while a tweet may only take me 30 seconds.

I've added a feed of my last 3 Tweets at my Daily News & Deals Page.

I'm new to Twitter, so if you have suggestions about how I can better use it, please leave a comment.

Update: There has been some confusion over my Twitter plans. I still plan to do the same number of Bank Deals blog posts that I've done before. Twitter will just add more info. On the Twitter page, I'll tweet on deals as soon as I find them even those that are not that great. I'll do the same with banking news. From these, I'll write the normal Bank Deals blog posts.

I was never into this social networking craze like Facebook, MySpace, or any of these "tweets". A lot of children have cell phones now and most of its use is for conversations or text messaging that is over 90% "junk" messages. Being a civil servant, I don't like the big brother aspect of all of this electronic communications.

Re: anon 4:01, I worry more about hackers/criminals way more than big brother. But, all this communication stuff is interesting and fun.

Although I feel the same as 4:01 PM anonymous (it would be nice if "anonymouses" could give themselves a little name to make it easier to refer to them) :o) I feel that if it makes the task faster and easier for the Banking Guy, then it's a good thing.

Since I'm not into these things (have enough trouble with the "traditional" internet lol!), I'm not sure whether to enter the "tweeter" one must re-subscribe? Or just clicking on the links that are now listed on top of the messages suffice?

Since I can't comment on the twitter page, I'll have to comment here -- today's tweet about the Pacific Mercantile CDs should have mentioned that these are IRA CDs. The regular CDs have a higher minimum and a lower APY.

Thanks for the note. I did list the CD as an IRA CD. I'm checking to see if they allow online applications for these or if they require a branch visit.
