Qualtrust Credit Union continues to offer competitive certificate rates. These include a 2.02% APY 6-month CD, a 2.43% APY 12-month CD and a 2.79% APY 2-year CD. Minimum deposit is $1,000. The small print states that higher rates may be available for deposits of $50,000 or more. The early withdrawal penalty is 90 days of interest for terms of one year or less and 180 days of interest for terms of over one year. These rates are listed in the credit union's rate table as of 6/10/09.
My last post on this credit union was in January when the 12-month CD had a 3.56% APY.
Membership is open anyone who lives, works, plays or worships within a 10 mile radius of the credit union's Irving and Grapevine locations or in Tom Green County (location of their San Angelo office). Please refer to the credit union's About Us Page for more details. Membership requires a minimum balance of $5 in the share savings account.
The credit union has some strong ratings for soundness: 5 stars (superior) at BauerFinancial and 4 stars (strong) at Bankrate.com. Both are based on 12/31/08 data. The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 68569).
