3.05% 24-Month CD & Other High Rates Continue at Heritage Bank of Florida - Local Only

Heritage Bank of Florida continues to offer a very competitive 3.05% APY 2-year CD. The 3-year CD is also competitive with a 3.30% APY. Minimum deposit is $1,000. This is also available in an IRA. These CD rates are listed in the bank's rate table as of 6/12/09.

The bank also offers competitive rates for its money market and checking accounts. The rates are down a bit since my April post, but they're still very competitive. As of 6/12/09, the money market account has tiered rates with a 2.25% APY for a balance of $40K to $100K, and 2.75% APY for balances over $100K. The bank also offers a checking account that pays 1.10% which is not too bad for a brick-and-mortar bank in today's rate environment.

A branch visit is required to open new accounts. Branches are located in Lutz, Wesley Chapel and Tampa, Florida.

The bank has some decent financial ratings for soundness: 3 stars (performing) at Bankrate.com and 4 stars (excellent) at BauerFinancial. Both are based on 12/31/08 data. The bank has been FDIC insured since 1999 (FDIC Certificate # 35009).
