$125 Checking Account Bonus at Banco Popular - CA, FL, IL, NY & NJ

Banco Popular has a checking account bonus in which you can get up to $125 for opening their Totally Free Checking. To earn the full $125, the following is required:

• Up to $25 for your old debit card and unused checks at another bank
• $50 for adding direct deposit
• $50 for using Banco Popular's free online bill pay

They're also giving away a free Thermos Cooler. This promotion is listed at Banco Popular's special NY/NJ website. According to a Banco CSR, this promotion may be available at all of their branches. A branch visit is required. The Totally Free Checking has no monthly service charge or minimum balance requirements. The only downside that I see is that they don't provide free checks.

I recently posted on Banco Popular's CD specials on Monday. Since rates typically are changed on Fridays, I called for the updated rates. The 2.50% APY 15-month special CD continues in New York. They also have a 2.00% APY 7-month CD special. Unfortunately, rates may be lower outside New York. Refer to my CD post for more details.
