2.75% 23-Month CD at Golden Plains Credit Union in Kansas - Easy Membership

POSTED ON BY

Golden Plains Credit Union
Golden Plains Credit Union is offering a 2.75% APY 23-month Double-Jump CD. This special CD allows you to jump to the current 24-month CD rate two times during the term. This special is listed in the main rotating image on the credit union's front page as of 9/10/09. Note, there are about 5 other images that rotate in for this front page image. Keep reloading this page until you get to the Double-Jump Rate promotion.

Membership is open to members of the Lee Richardson Zoo. It appears this membership costs $25 at minimum. Credit union membership is also open to those who reside in Kansas or the Liberal trade area. Please see the credit union's Become a Member page for more details. Membership requires a minimum $10 balance in your savings account.

This credit union is one of the very few institutions that still offer a 6% reward checking account as of 9/10/09 (see post). However, the credit union limits this reward checking account to credit union members who reside in Kansas. So if you're interested in this special CD and you don't live in Kansas, you may want to verify with the credit union that all members qualify for this special CD. In that reward checking post, I included the steps that a reader went through to join this credit union. Make sure to check with the credit union for the latest instructions.

For those who live in Kansas, you can join and open the account at one of their branches.

The credit union's ratings for safety and soundness are fair to excellent: 3 stars (performing) at Bankrate.com and 4 stars (excellent) at BauerFinancial. Both ratings are based on 3/31/09 financial data. The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 62542).

Thanks to the reader who emailed me news of this promotion.
