Northwest Savings Bank
Northwest Savings Bank is having a grand opening special at its three new branches in Rochester, New York. The special offers an especially good deal on a personal savings account with 2.25% APY guaranteed through 11/16/2010. Minimum balance is $100, and the maximum is $250,000 per account. A checking account is required, otherwise the rate falls to 2.00% APY. The offer is scheduled to expire on 11/16/2009.

This special doesn't seem to be listed at the bank's website. A reader mentioned this in the comments and referenced this FW thread which has details from FW member cga who reported to have opened this last week.

Northwest Savings Bank is also offering a $100 bonus for opening a new checking account with direct deposit. This bonus is available at all of the bank's branches (see post).

The three Rochester branches which have been reported to be offering this savings account promotion are:
  • Greece Office, 860 Long Pond Road, Rochester, NY 14612, (585) 621-2265
  • Gates/Chili Branch, 2113 Chili Ave, Rochester, NY 14624, (585) 663-2265
  • Webster Branch, 475 Plank Road, Webster, NY 14580, (585) 787-2265
I noticed in the FDIC database that these three branches all opened last September.

The bank has solid ratings for safety and soundness: 4 stars (excellent) at BauerFinancial and 4 stars (sound) at Bankrate.com. These ratings are based on 6/30/09 financial data. The bank has been a FDIC member since 1939 (FDIC Certificate # 28178).

Thanks to the reader who mentioned this promotion in the bank deals hub and to FW member cga who posted on it in this FW thread.
